ZX-V: terms of use ================== (c) 2026 Cronomantic. https://github.com/cronomantic/ZX-V These terms apply to the ZX-V emulator (zxv, zxv-sdl, zxv-cli, sdimg and the web version), the ZX-V ROM (the BASIC and the system: rom.bin and the copy built into the emulator and the firmware), the ROM disk (romdisk.bin) and the firmware for the Picos (the .uf2 files): "the software" below. They do not apply to: - what belongs to others, which has its own licences and is listed in THIRD_PARTY_NOTICES.txt (Qt, SDL, the Pico SDK...); for those parts, their licences prevail; - the SDK, the example programs, the graphics (zxv-gfx) and music (zxv-tracker) editors and the documentation, which have their own licences (MIT for all but the documentation, CC BY 4.0 for the documentation) and are available, with their source, at https://github.com/cronomantic/ZX-V. 1. Use. The software is free of charge. You can use it for any purpose, commercial ones included: making and selling programs for ZX-V, teaching with it, recording videos or streaming. 2. What you make is yours. The programs you write for ZX-V, and the files you create with it, are yours: you can distribute and sell them under any licence you like. You only have to comply with the licences of whatever you put in them (for example, the SDK's MIT licence). 3. Redistribution. You can copy the software and pass it on, on other websites or in compilations too, as long as: a) it goes unchanged and complete, with this file, THIRD_PARTY_NOTICES.txt and the licenses folder; b) you do not charge for it. Charging only the cost of the physical medium (a card, a USB stick) is fine. 4. The ROM, for other emulators too. The ROM and the ROM disk may also be distributed with other emulators or implementations of ZX-V, on the same conditions: unchanged, with the copyright notice intact and free of charge. 5. With permission. To sell the software or include it in something that is sold (a paid compilation, a device, a kit with the firmware), or to distribute a modified version, ask the author for permission through https://github.com/cronomantic/ZX-V. 6. Changes and reverse engineering. You may not modify or decompile the software, except: a) to the extent that the law allows it regardless of these terms; b) to the extent that the licences of the third-party parts allow it. In particular, Qt's LGPL v3 lets you replace the Qt libraries with others, and allows the reverse engineering needed to debug such changes. 7. The name. "ZX-V" may not be used to name modified versions or other products in a way that makes them look official. 8. No warranty. The software is provided as is, without warranty of any kind. Loading the firmware into a Pico or a board and connecting it to other devices is your own responsibility. To the extent permitted by law, the author is not liable for any damage caused by its use. 9. Versions. Each version keeps the terms it was published with. Future versions may have different ones.
